Married for just 2 weeks and innocent lady presented with genital herpes! vert painful and morbid condition..Her hubby of 10 days was HIV positive and she negative..My god. quite likley that she would have already got the HIV virus which may take another few weeks to test Positive..Hubby did not want 2 disclose 2 his wife saying it would end up in divorce..But I had a professional responsibility to make sure that she is aware of the grave risk and need to use condoms for a long time and to check hre HIV status after 6 weeks/months..Just ensured that she too recevied antiviral medications to minimize the risk..Hope she will be OK.This is the 3rd case where I saw husband giving virus to wife after marriage...Thinking of starting a program for premarrital counselling/testing for HIV through Colleges and self help groups..
